Kenya Nyeri AB – One of Kenya's Oldest Coffee Estates

Nyeri Hill Farm is located in Kenya's Nyeri region at an altitude of 1,800–2,200 m a.s.l., on the foothills of Mount Kenya and the Aberdare Range. Covering more than 1,400 hectares, it is one of the oldest coffee estates in East Africa, with the first coffee trees planted in 1914. The estate is still owned by the Catholic Archdiocese of Nyeri, and coffee revenues have long supported local schools, seminaries, and a hospital.
Thanks to its volcanic soils, high elevation, and cool climate, the Nyeri region produces some of Kenya's most distinctive coffees. The estate places great emphasis on sustainable farming, biodiversity, and careful land stewardship. Coffee trees grow under the shade of native trees, while the surrounding vegetation helps protect the soil from erosion.
After harvest, only perfectly ripe cherries are depulped, fermented, washed with clean water, and dried on raised African beds. This traditional washed process highlights the coffee's clean cup, vibrant acidity, and natural sweetness. The result is a juicy and elegant filter coffee with notes of blackcurrant, lime, and panela.
