With a kettle, dripper, and filter, you can prepare coffee using the pour-over method, which guarantees a clean taste. This method is suitable for various types of coffee, but beans with light to medium roast and mild acidity shine best. Among the most recognized pour-over techniques is the V60, which creates a clean taste and pronounced aroma. This recipe is ideal for one serving of V60.

Recipe

Coffee to water ratio: 15:250 g (1:16)
Coffee: 15 g (medium grind)
Water: 250 ml
Extraction time: 2:30 - 3:00 min
Extraction temperature: 96 °C

Learn how to make Pour-Over like a true barista.

Step 01 / Příprava

First, place the filter in the V60 on your mug or server. Rinse the filter with hot water to remove the paper taste, then discard the water from the mug. Grind the coffee to a medium coarseness and add it to the V60. Tap the side of the dripper lightly several times to level the coffee bed. If you have a kettle with a temperature setting, set it to 96 °C. If not, let the water boil and then wait 1 to 2 minutes for it to cool slightly.

Step 02 / Blooming

Place the V60 and server on the scale, zero it out, and when you're ready, start pouring and start the timer. With gentle circular movements, pour 45 g of water. Make sure all the coffee grounds are evenly covered with water. Gently swirl the V60 dripper with both hands to ensure the coffee is evenly saturated. Let the coffee bloom for 45 seconds.

Step 03 / Extrakce

After 45 seconds, begin pouring the remaining water using a controlled spiral motion, starting from the center and continuing towards the edges of the V60. Keep this concentric movement smooth and uninterrupted until you've poured all the remaining water. Make sure to cover all the coffee on the sides of the filter. This process should be completed by 1:20. Once the pouring is finished, gently swirl the V60 again. Allow all the coffee to drip into the cup or server. The total extraction time should be around 2:30 to 3:00 minutes. Remove the V60 from the cup or server, stir the coffee, and enjoy it.

Notes

  • If the coffee brews for longer than 3 minutes, set the grind size to coarser.
  • If your coffee brews in less than 2.5 minutes, set the grind size to finer.
