The AeroPress is an excellent coffee-making device that uses high pressure for extraction and delivers a great cup. This means you can use coffee roasted for espresso as well as for filter. The AeroPress is a fun device that allows you to easily prepare a single cup of coffee – it is cleaner than a French press but richer in flavor than coffee made using the pour-over method.
Recipe
Coffee to water ratio: 16:230 g (1:14.4)
Coffee: 16 g (medium grind)
Water: 230 ml
Extraction time: 2:20-2:30 min
Extraction temperature: 96 °C
Learn to make AeroPress like a real barista.
Step 02
Place the paper filter in the cap and rinse it with water to remove the paper taste. Turn the AeroPress upside down - the cap facing up - with the plunger at the bottom. Add 16 g of coffee to the AeroPress chamber and gently shake to distribute the coffee evenly. Place the AeroPress on a scale and set it to zero.
Step 03
Start the timer and pour 230 ml of hot water in a circular motion. After pouring, stir 5 times, ensuring that all the ground particles are moist, and place the lid on top of the AeroPress.
Step 04
At 1:45 carefully flip the AeroPress over the decanter and at 2:00 start pressing the piston with gentle pressure. Pressing the piston should take about 20–30 seconds. Stop pressing when you hear a "hiss." The goal is to have all the coffee extracted by 2:20 – 2:30 minutes.
Notes
The grind size and water temperature affect the flavor, so experiment for the best results.
