Ethiopia Goro Badesa – the heart of the Guji region
INFO
Ethiopia is considered the birthplace of coffee, and the Guji region is renowned for producing exceptional coffees with vibrant fruit character and remarkable clarity. Goro Badesa Washing Station, operated by Habtamu Fekadu Aga since 2020, works with hundreds of smallholder farmers from the slopes of Mount Kuri. Thanks to modern processing equipment, strict quality control, and a strong commitment to environmental sustainability, the station produces coffees that truly express their origin. Beyond coffee production, the station supports the local community through agronomy training, interest-free pre-harvest payments, and the renovation of a nearby primary school.
After harvest, the ripe cherries are carefully sorted, depulped, and fermented for approximately 24 hours. They are then hand-washed and dried on raised African beds for 9 to 12 days, where they are regularly turned, protected from direct sunlight, and carefully monitored throughout the drying process. This meticulous washed processing results in a clean, sweet, and elegant cup with delicate fruit notes.
